These instructions tell you how you can download NSW TAB results from 1999 to the end of last month for use in Bet Selector. Unless you download TAB results every day via the Race TAB Live part of the program, you will probably want to follow these instructions once a month to keep your results up to date. Results are usually updated around the 2nd or 3rd of each month and news of these updates appears first on our Twitter and Facebook pages at:

These so-called "master result files" can be obtained via the “Download/Reindex TAB Results” option off Bet Selector’s main pull-down FILE menu (the FILE menu you get to when you first start up the program and before you select any other menu options). The first thing you should notice when you select this menu item is a drop down selection box at the top left hand corner of the pop up dialogue which defaults to the most recent results. You would only change this if you want to download old results (for example from 1999 to 31/12/2009).
To start the download procedure you must make sure you are connected to the Internet and click the “Check for Updates” button. The program will then check what updates are available and enable the 3 separate "Download and Install" buttons indicating alongside them the latest month for which results are available. Note there are 3 separate result files - one for win, one for place and one for TAB SPs.
The actual download procedure is a three step process as each button has to be clicked separately to download the respective file - and each download must be completed before the next can be commenced. After each download you will be presented with a Ok pop up which must be accepted to reindex the results just downloaded (this is normal and indeed is an indication the download worked).
To make sure the results are copied into your meeting files after downloading you should run a system test over all your meetings with the “Force Results Checking” check box ticked - do this for the past month or whatever period you have downloaded new results for (if more than just the last month) . You can also do this for any past dates for which you think results might not be showing. Note you should do this with a system that picks all horses in all races (ie has no rules changed form the defaults).
Note: If you get an Error Code 1 (sub code 1202 “Key Expression” error) when system testing please use the new re-index option via the “Download/Reindex TAB Results” option off Bet Selector’s main pull-down FILE menu - it is important to reindex the old results if you have experienced this error (to do this you must change the drop down selection box to select pre-2010 results and then click the Reindex button). Note also you must have a program dated no older than 2010 and preferably dated within the last 3 months. If in doubt you should update your program.
Note also the main results file is named NSWDIVSX.DBF but two additional files are also available namely PLACE.DBF containing place and first four results and MARKET.DBF containing final TAB prices for all starters. For results since 1/1/2010 the file names are NSWDIVS2.DBF, PLACE2.DBF and MARKET2.DBF.
Form Downloads: If you are new to Bet Selector please note the above instructions are only for downloading TAB results. You will still need access to supported form downloads to run system tests. If you don’t have a form subscription then a sample meeting can be downloaded using the "Download Sample" menu item off the program’s pull down Import menu. Otherwise you can get form for all Australian TAB meetings (plus Hong Kong and New Zealand) for $55 a month (less than $2 a day) from www.bestform.com.au
