Important: Please note if you wish to perform system tests then you need both TAB result downloads and meeting form guide downloads as per our Form Import web page. Also to download results from 1/1/2020 you need at least the 3/2/2020 program update (see link at end of this page if you need to udpate).
In the first section below you will find instructions on how to download results from 1999 for use in Bet Selector. In the second section below you will find instructions on how to update results every day via the Race Day Live part of the program.
Downloadable result files can be obtained via the “Download/Reindex TAB Results” option off Bet Selector’s main pull-down FILE menu (the FILE menu you get to when you first start up the program and before you select any other menu options). They are usually updated around the 2nd or 3rd of each month. You should follow the instructions below the first time you install the program with new form downloads or install it on a new computer. After that you may not need to download the files again as the same results can be sourced each day via the Race Day Live part of the program (however if you go for a period without regularly using Race Day Live you may want to update again via these instructions).
The first thing you should notice when you select this menu item is a drop down selection box at the top left hand corner of the pop up dialogue which defaults to the most recent results. You would only change this if you want to download old results (for example pre-2020). To start the download procedure you must make sure you are connected to the Internet and click the “Check for Updates” button. The program will then check what updates are available and enable the 3 separate "Download and Install" buttons indicating alongside them the latest month for which results are available.
Note there are 3 separate result files that are downloaded one after the other as follows:
Once installed, the result files (a) allows TAB results to be displayed alongside race information in the Price Predictor part of the program and (b) allows profit and loss calculations to be determined during back testing of systems in System Selector.
If you want to load the TAB results, dividends and scratchings into your own database programs and/or spreadsheets you need to locate the following files in C:\Price:
Note the above files include TAB results and dividends up to 31/12/2009 while results and dividends from 1/1/2010 to 31/12/2019 are in separate files called NSWDIVS2.DBF, PLACE2.DBF and MARKET2.DBF. Results and dividends from 1/1/2020 are in separate files called NSWDIVS3.DBF, PLACE3.DBF and MARKET3.DBF. If you follow the above instructions but do not get the results appearing in system tests then the following troubleshooting notes may help:
Note: If you get an Error Code 1 (sub code 1202 “Key Expression” error) when system testing please use the re-index option to re-index results for all 3 date periods (to do this you must change the drop down selection box to select each date period and then click the Re-index button). Note also you must have a recent version of the program when doing this - if in doubt you should update your program using the link at the end of this page.
Results can also be updated at the end of each day using the Race Day Live part of Bet Selector. It allows you to download results, scratchings and final prices for all horses for a day of your choice (from today back to 40 days ago).
Race Day Live provides the easiest way to download scratchings for all the days meetings each morning and results each evening plus it allows you to update jockeys which are not included in the downloadable result files. It is available in all versions of Bet Selector so make sure you familiarise yourself with it. More details can be found at Race Day Live
If you are new to Bet Selector please note the above instructions are only for downloading results. You will still need access to supported form downloads to run system tests. If you don’t have a form subscription then a sample meeting can be downloaded using the "Download Sample" menu item off the program’s pull down Import menu.
Once you have access to form downloads as per our Form Import web page you can then download meeting form each day via the top option on Bet Selector's pull down IMPORT menu). Note this option also allows you to download form for past months.
