This page contains information for program owners. New program
and prospective program owners are directed to the Help File on
the left hand menu. Information to help fix common problems can
be found below. Note that Bet Selector goes through high levels
of testing so you should not be surprised to note that the
potential problems listed below are not actually caused by the
program itself but rather by Windows or Internet connection
problems.
FILE UNZIP PROBLEMS
Bet Selector unzips file downloads automatically for you and on
a few computers this does not work - usually because Windows has
not associated the correct program with the VBS script file used
to access the compressed folders features of Windows. If
your meeting files don't unzip then you can check for this
problem by going into Folder Options via Control Panel and
selecting File Types and scrolling down to the VBS file type.
VBS file properties should say these files open with "Windows
Based Script Host". If not then the fix is as follows.
Use the Windows Search feature to locate a file called
WSH.INF. When you have located this file, right mouse click it
and select Install off the pop up menu. This should correct the
VBS file association in Windows for you.
MANUAL FILE UNZIPPING
If you have an older version of Windows that does not support
compressed (zip) folders then you will have to manually unzip
meeting files and TAB result files. The following instructions
tell you how to do this.
First locate the zip file that needs to be unzipped by using
Windows Explorer to explore the appropriate folder (TVF if you
are looking for meeting files or Price of you are looking for
TAB result files). Second, right mouse click the zip file to be
unzipped. Third, from the pop up menu select "Extract All..." or
"Open With > Compressed (zipped) Folders". This will open the
Windows Extraction Wizard. Fourth, the destination folder on the
"Select a Destination" Wizard page must be modified to remove
everything from the final back slash on (so it ends up being
C:\Price or C:\TVF). Then just click Next and Finish to complete
the process.
MEETING IMPORT PROBLEMS
If you ever get an error box pop up while importing meetings it
is likely that a meetings has become corrupted during the
download or unzip part of the process and it gets "stuck" in the
way of subsequent imports. The following instructions will clear
out any such problem meetings.
First you should try the unzip and import options separately
off the pull down Import menu. This will make sure any zip files
yet to be unzipped are unzipped and any unzipped files waiting
to be imported are imported. Make sure you do the unzip step
first. And make sure you try both Punter and Pro Punter unzip
import options. Second, Explore your TVF folder and delete any
zip files in it (if there are any they are probably corrupted).
Note after importing there should not be any zip files in the
TVF folder as they are moved to the Ziparchive subfolder. Third,
Explore the FORM and TVFX subfolders and remove any files in
them.
