Quinella betting and exacta betting can produce good returns because you can still get a collect from quinella betting if your main selection comes second. As separately discussed for trifecta betting, some second place selections are more likely to come second in quinellas and exactas than traditionally expected. This clearly has implications for working out quinella systems and exacta systems. In particular, identifying the selections that are more likely to come second in quinellas and exactas than traditionally expected is the key to successful quinella betting and exacta betting on the TAB.

Short priced favourites on the TAB are usually over bet for second in quinellas and exactas. Such favourites automatically make good first place standouts but are often best ignored for second place.
